Test the Setup<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Once everything is configured, send a test email to the routing address. Check Salesforce to confirm the case is created correctly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ensure that all related fields are populated as expected. If something isn\u2019t working, review your email service settings and Apex code if used.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"543\" src=\"https:\/\/www.irfankhatri.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/testing-email-to-case-1024x543.png\" alt=\"Test Email-to-Case Setup\" class=\"wp-image-531\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.irfankhatri.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/testing-email-to-case-1024x543.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.irfankhatri.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/testing-email-to-case-300x159.png 300w, https:\/\/www.irfankhatri.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/testing-email-to-case-768x408.png 768w, https:\/\/www.irfankhatri.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/testing-email-to-case.png 1417w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Associate Contact To Case<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The Email-to-Case logic queries all the Email fields on the Contact object, including Standard and Custom Email fields.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Upon finding a match in any of the email address fields, Email-to-Case assigns the Contact to the new Case.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If two or more Contacts have the same email address,&nbsp;Email-to-Case leaves the &#8216;Contact&#8217; and &#8216;Account&#8217; fields blank.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If no matching Contacts are found, Email-to-Case leaves the &#8216;Contact&#8217; and &#8216;Account&#8217; fields blank, but populates the fields &#8216;Web Email&#8217; and &#8216;Web Name.&#8217;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Email-to-Case Limitations<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Daily Email Processing Limit:<\/strong> Salesforce can process up to 1,000 emails per user license per day, with a maximum of 1,000,000 emails\/day per org across all email services.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Inbound Email Size Limit:<\/strong> Maximum size allowed (including headers, message content, and attachments) is under 25 MB.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Outbound Email Size Limit:<\/strong> Outbound emails can be up to 384 KB, not including headers, attachments, or inline images.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Maximum Email Length:<\/strong> The maximum email length before an inbound or outbound email is truncated is 32,000 characters for email headers and 131,072 characters for the email body.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Summary<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Setting up Email-to-Case in Salesforce transforms your customer support process by automating case creation from incoming emails.
